The weekend of 3-4 July consisted of a one day doubles tournament for the goblets followed by a singles tournament for the splendid bowl
The Burbage trophies
On Saturday four pairs contested the goblets. Sally-Ann & Dawn had difficulty keeping up with the more experienced pairings who all registered the same number of match wins and games, leaving Simon to resort to net points. On this basis, Simon and Paul Newton (7) followed John Reddish and David Collins (8) who, in turn, were pipped at the post by Ed Dymock and Gloria Watson (10).

Sunday was another bright and sunny day with Saturday’s personnel, except for Ken Watson (of the wounded knee) guesting in place of Sally-Ann. After six rounds David swept into a five-win lead from John and Simon (both 4) and was awarded the handsome trophy.
